I slept well and after a nice shower and breakfast I ventured out. Before I reached the Metro station I walked past a couple of Chivas, the traditional bus in rural areas and ubiquious party vehicle in Colombia. Gosh, it´s so good to be back!
My first stop is the charming botanical garden, which thanks to Medellíns famous flower festival hosts spectacular and colourful flower arrangements.
To get away from the crowds I leisurely stroll to the lagoon and watch the wildlife. I don´t want to rush it on my first day.
The sun is beginning to find its way through the thick, grey clouds. I decide to take the "metrocable" up to Parque Arví. The metrocable is a cable car that is part of the integrated public transport of the city. It connects the poor(er) neighbourhoods on the steep mountain slopes with the main city in the valley. The view from the cabin is absolutely stunning. Up at Parque Arví I stroll around in the crisper mountain air and treat myself to a bowl of fruit (delicious!).
Back in the city I visit my favourite square with its twenty-odd Botero statues and the life that surrounds them.
This time I also visit the Museo de Antioquia, but apart from more Botero and two beautiful courtyards there´s very little that sparks my interest.
Time to go back to the hotel, have a short rest and then dinner at my favourite Italian restaurant in South America, Ópera Pizza. Almost like Italy.
Then I head home, where I take care of my blogs, have a shower and pack my stuff for two days in paradise. Tomorrow I´ll fly to the Pacific, to my piece of paradise. And I´ll fly VERY early. So, without further ado, good night and sweet dreams to everyone. There will be no new posts before Aug 7th (no internet and no electricity in paradise ;-) )
